Mekaila is a Milwaukee teenager born and raised. She has always been fascinated by entrepreneurship and things related to art. "I love art and I am very interested in supporting my community. I’ve been drawing and painting for as long I can remember. I’ve always enjoyed creating art and using it to express myself." There is a quote by Victor Pinchuk that says, “Art, freedom, and creativity will change society faster than politics,” and this is something she believes to be true, especially in the world we live in today.
MeKaila believes art can be an escape and a passion for many people. She enjoys art and believes it is also a way for her to pursue entrepreneurship while doing something she loves. It allows her to inspire others to use art as an outlet, and use it to change their world. Pieces of her work will be featured in Genre: Urban Arts’ 4th magazine. This summer she will be attending the Early College Program Summer Institute at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago ( ECP of SAIC ) as well as the SCAD Summer Seminars in Savannah, GA. "I hope to one day use my art and voice to make a larger impact on my community, my city, and the world one stroke at a time." - MeKaila Baskerville
